RECRUITMENT 2024/25

Fall 2024 recruitment is now complete. Please keep your eyes peeled for future opportunities with us!

Keep scrolling to meet our sub-teams and learn what we do.

THE SUB-TEAMS

GU Rocketry's members work together in sub-teams, with a variety of roles, both technical and non-technical.

As a first year student, you'll join our Junior Development Programme (JDP), which will teach you foundational skills as you build your own rockets. You'll also be able to attend lectures hosted by our senior members, as well as people in industry.

If you're applying in second year or beyond, you'll be joining one of our senior teams, which are listed below.

AEROSTRUCTURES

Aerostructures design the airframes of our rockets, utilising skills in aerodynamics, structural mechanics, manufacturing, material science, and computer simulation.

The team uses a wide range of software in the design process, including Star CCM+ for CFD simulation, and Abaqus and Fusion360 for FEA.

AVIONICS

Avionics designs and manufactures the flight and ground systems of our projects. These include both the hardware and software of flight computers, ground support systems, launch hardware and more!

BUSINESS & OPERATIONS

Business & Operations maintain the non-technical aspects of the society, allowing our projects to run smoothly. B&O is organised into four groups:

  • Branding are responsible for our online presence, as well as our rocket liveries, and our merchandise.

  • Outreach spread awareness of our society, and run workshops for local schools.

  • Events organise workshops, guest lectures, social nights, and more.

  • Partnerships maintain our relationships with our sponsors, which help us reach our goals.

PROPULSION

The Propulsion team design, manufacture and assemble our engines. Past projects, such as Chimera and Helios, have pushed the boundaries with ground-based hardware, giving the team valuable insight and experience as we work towards our goal of designing flight-ready engines.

FEED SYSTEMS

Feed Systems is our newest team, formed by senior members from across the society, and joined by talented new recruits, with the goal of designing our first ever flight-ready fuel feed system. This will support our long-term goal of flying our own liquid bi-propellant engine.
